The WIBU-KEY is a license management and copy protection system considered as the most technically advanced among its contemporaries. It is based on true encryption that makes use of hardware and its main objective is to safeguard programs and data from unauthorized users. This system consists of a driver software, a software for encrypting data and a hardware component called the WIBU-BOX which has different variants including the WIBU-BOX/M. The WIBU-BOX/M’s design is based on the very same ASIC as all the other variant of the WIBU-BOX is and it is functionally equal and completely compatible with other variants of the WIBU-BOX. The drivers for the WIBU-KEY system for PCMCIA is capable of supporting the Card Services as well as the direct access to PC card controllers that are Intel compatible and do note require the Card Services.
Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face hardware performance issues.
To check your drivers you should manually verify every device on your system for driver updates
Each variant of the WIBU-BOX such ads the WIBU-BOX/M is based on the ASIC of the WIBU-KEY. The ASIC or WIBU-KEY is a small but robust microchip that contains the memory used for decrypting and encrypting information. The WIBU-SYSTEMS manufactures this microchip exclusively and it cannot be copied nor sold by others. No other hardware is required for programming the WIBU-BOX. The protected data and programs acquire encryptions and queries that directly access the WIBU-BOX attached to a user’s computer system. Without the connected WIBU-BOX, the protected data cannot be read and the protected programs cannot be launched. The decryption will only commence according to the programmed parameters contained in the WIBU-BOX. Thus, no third party software is capable of imitating the encryption. It is highly recommended you run a free registry scan for and WIBU-BOX/M errors before installing any driver updates.
