More details about W32.Silly!gen

The W32.Silly!gen program is a general detection program that identifies variants of the W32.Silly worms family. The variants/aliases which are detected by this general detection include “W32.SillyDC”, “W32.SillyFDC”, “W32.SillyIM”, “W32.SillyIRC”, “W32.SillyWNSE”, and “W32.SillyP2P”. The files that are identified as W32.Silly!gen may be malicious. Some users claimed that the malware is also capable of detecting security programs. Once found, it will compare the files in the system on the list of processes and files of security programs programmed into its codebase. Deletion will follow once a match is found. It is suggested for you to get an antivirus software program if you encountered this worm, so it could be deleted immediately.

The infiltration method of the W32.Silly!gen program varies according to how it is programmed or distributed by a malicious user. It may be added onto the script of a legitimate freeware application from the Net or may be downloaded directly onto the machine when the user clicks on random pop-ups and banners from unsolicited sites. Some claimed that this malware may infect external storage devices, which then transfers its own component when the hardware is attached to a computer system.
