CPU-Z for Windows can be used to troubleshoot problems with your PC's hardware. In a table format, you'll find information like the CPU type, processor power, number cores, architecture, clock speed, RAM, and GPU details. To view the details of your OS systems, you can scroll up or down the table.

This app is available for both Android and Windows. Other hardware monitoring options with similar diagnostic features are Core Temp, Speccy and HWiNFO.

Interface

This freeware collects information about your Windows system. Although it would be helpful to have some technical knowledge in order to understand the data, most of it is easy to comprehend. You will need a configuration file (cpuz.ini) to set the parameters of this app. It is located in the same directory that the cpuz.exe.

Processor analytics

The app will provide technical information about your processor, including name, vendor, core stepping, process, package, internal clocks, clock multiplier, partial overclock detection, and clock multiplier. The processor analytics includes detection of the core voltage, L2 bus width, and support for two processors running Windows NT or 2000. It also supports memory timing and instruction sets.

Other analytics

The mainboard analytics monitored include the vendor and model, revision, BIOS model, date, Chipset (northbridge or southbridge), and sensor.

In the memory analytics section, you'll find the frequency, timings, and tables. You can also see module specifications using Serial Presence Detect. You can also see whether your PC runs Windows or DirectX versions. Analytics for your graphics include the interface version and link width, maximum supported, sideband, and maximum supported. The app also displays the cache descriptor, size, and speed.

Other Features

The CPU-Z app allows you to set and reset timers, run stress tests and benchmarks for the CPU, and choose the reference processor. You can save your favorite information in reports, and verify the authenticity of your current system settings against public CPU-Z databases.
