Single-player chess

Pardoblabs offers Free Chess, a turn-based strategy game in which you can play against an artificially intelligent system. Your opponent is controlled by AI. However, you can control the game's difficulty. The game's objective is to checkmate your opponent using standard chess rules. Each player will receive sixteen chess pieces, consisting of a king and rook, queen as well as pawn, knight, and bishop. You are declared the winner when your opponent's king is placed in a check.

Gameplay

Free Chess is a strategy game for one player that follows the laws and rules of chess. This is the initial setup of chess. A square board is divided into eight-by-8 boards. This creates 64 squares with alternating light and darker colors. The right-most corner of the board will always be white. The 32 chess pieces are located at the top of the board. Each player has 16 pieces, namely:

1 King

1 Queen

2 Rooks

2 Bishops

2 Knights

8 Pawns

You will control the white pieces and be able to make the first move. As the game progresses you will need to move your pieces, even if it is a bad move. This is because chess rules prohibit players from skipping turns. Each type of chess piece has a different method of moving. A piece moves to a vacant square, whether it is black or white, unless the goal is to capture an enemy's piece. When you replace a piece on its square, you are deemed to have captured or taken it.

The first piece you will move is the pawns. If it is vacant, they can move to the square directly in front. It can also move diagonally, but only if you capture the opponent's piece. The queen and the bishop can move any number vacant squares horizontally or vertically. Your king can also move in the same manner, but only one square per turn. Rooks can move any number squares, but only horizontally or vertically. The knight is different from all the pieces because it can jump towards the nearest square.
