Gnuplot is a portable, command-line driven graphing utility that works on Windows, Linux, OS/2 and OSX.

Gnuplot can generate both 2D or 3D plots. The animated views are also possible. You can save graphs to a variety image formats including PNG, SVG and JPEG.

These are some of the supported outputs

Interactive screen display: Cross-platform (Qt), wxWidgets x11, or system-specific. (MS Windows, OS/2). Direct output to file: Postscript (including eps), pdf (including gif), jpeg and LaTeX.

Gnuplot was initially created for students and scientists to visualize mathematical functions and data interactively. However, it has since expanded to include non-interactive uses like web scripting. Third-party applications like Octave can also use it as a plotting engine.
