Window Run box: Free Alternative

Nenad Hrg created the Run-Command freeware, which is compatible for Windows 7 through 10. The multilingual software is available in English, Greek and French, as well as multiple other languages.

This portable utility is an alternative to Windows Run. The software adds additional functionality to the standard. It doesn't require installation and can be run directly from your desktop. Teracopy allows you to quickly copy files and Unlocker unlocks locked files.

Command-line in Windows

You can use Windows' command-line by searching for Run in the Search Bar, or typing Win + R. Windows will open the Run dialog box. Here you can type your command-line or select commands from the dropdown menu. Next, click 'OK' or 'Cancel' to browse for files in File Explorer.

Run-Command has additional features

The software has additional features that the standard Run app does not offer. You can add commands to Favourites and run programs with administrator permissions. Run-Command supports all variables in the Windows environment. It also creates custom keyboard shortcuts.

Software interface

Run-Command has a simple interface. Start the software by pressing Win + R. You can also choose Options, the ToTray, and the Exit option.

    Minimise the tray or hide software when closingChoose whether you want the software to start in a minimized position, hidden, or with Windows. Show the Control Panel menuUse hot-key to create a shortcut to launch RunCommand. To hide Run-Command while it is running, show it always at the top or consult the Program Info

You can use the Open field to type your command-line or access past commands from the dropdown menu. Run-Command has a quick launch bar at its bottom, which you can populate using your most-used programs.
