Manager of your own drive

WinDirStat, a free disk cleanup program, allows you to manage your drives. WinDirStat analyzes the disks you choose and displays a complete directory listing to show you the storage space used by each file. This app is only compatible with Microsoft Windows PC operating systems.

Alternatives to WinDirStat are SequoiaView and TreeSize. These programs scan your computer drives to provide a visual representation that shows which files are using the most space. The graphs are filled with rectangles and squares that represent files.

Is WinDirStat secure?

WinDirStat can be used by PC users and is lightweight at less than 1 MB. WinDirStat can be used to increase the space on your hard drive and solid-state drives. The app is designed to free up space on your OS. It is therefore important that the program is small. WinDirStat can be modified within the GNU GPLv2 licence.

WinDirStat works on Windows 10?

WinDirStat is compatible with Windows 10 operating systems. WinDirStat can be downloaded and installed on all versions of Windows OS. WinDirStat is not compatible with Linux or MacOS. However, you can download KDirStat Linux and QDirStat Mac.

What is WinDirStat used to do?

WinDirStat provides a detailed file listing of disk usage on your HD/SSD. You can scan multiple drives simultaneously or individual drives. You can scan individual folders or all local drives by using the 'All Local Drives" button.

On the left is a list of disk inventory. The right panel contains the disk statistics for the entire analysis. The interface's bottom section includes a treemap showing the directory statistics. Rectangles are used to represent the files. The size of the rectangles is proportional to how much disk space each file uses.

How can I use WinDirStat on Windows 10?

Each segment can be expanded using the directory tree. The 'addition' sign next to the items will allow you to open the trees, while the'minus' sign will reduce the subtrees. The entire contents of your disk drive will appear in descending order to the right. The extension list can be sorted by size and colour.

To view the statistics viewer, you can click on any item in either list. You can expand each folder's contents by using the tree view. All records will have usage statistics, even if the file types are not used. The top will list the largest archives.

WinDirStat allows you to see what percentage of your drive is being used for each file and folder. Each level of the directory tree is listed with its name, percentage bar, size, and description. The folders show the total number and file count within each folder. WinDirStat allows you to view the items in Windows Explorer. To explore the records, right-click and press 'Explorer Here.

You can click on the folder contents to open the file explorer window. To ensure that you don't delete any important files, you can view the files. You can delete the files directly from your Windows Explorer menu or WinDirStat interface. You can delete one or more items at a time.

To erase files that are not part of the WinDirStatUI, you can tap on the refresh button in your icon bar to resync. In the upper left corner, you can see the progress of the scanning process. After the reload, you should delete files from the Windows Explorer window.

Practical application for clean PCs

WinDirStat, a popular utility, allows you to easily reduce files on your computer. This freeware provides useful views that allow you to interact with files and folders. To see the location of each item in real time, you can click on sections within the maps and lists. When you select a directory from either of the lists, the highlighted area will be highlighted.

What's new?
