How to change windows product key

If you want to change the windows product key, it depends on which version of windows you are using. It can be that you want to change your product key so that you can activate another operating system.

Step 1
There are two ways that you can use to change your product key. The first one is by using (GUI) Windows Activation Wizard graphical user interface or (WMI) Windows Management Instrumentation script.
Step 2
It is better to use windows activation wizard for changing windows product key when you have one or few computers. Before you start, it is better that you run System Restore to create a new restore point.
Step 3
First, you click on 'start', and then click on 'Run'.

When the dialog box opens, then write on it 'Regedit', then click on 'Ok'.

There will be a registry key open in the left pane, click on it and write 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/WPAEevents4'.

In the right pane, use right click on OOBETimer, then modify it.
Step 7
To deactivate windows, click one digit of this value.
Step 8
Then again click on 'start' and 'run'.

When the dialog box opens, write in it '%systemroot%/system32/oobe/msoobe.exe/a8.

Then click 'Ok'. Then go ahead and click on 'next'.

Click on change product key, a box will come up, type in your new product key and then click on 'update'. If you go back to the previous window, then click on 'remind me later'. Now all you do is restart your computer, then start and run, that will tell you whether your windows key product has been changed. You will get this message: Windows is activated. Then press on ok.

This procedure is simple as long as you type in the correct words, if you restart windows and find that your product key is not activated, then select 'last known good configuration' and then go through the same procedure as above.
